Bagason Middle East General Trading LLC is a Dubai-based FMCG distribution and food trading company supplying supermarkets, hypermarkets, groceries, HoReCa and e-commerce channels across the UAE and wider GCC. We manage a portfolio of international and own-label food and beverage brands through van sales, key accounts, modern trade and marketplace channels, backed by our own warehousing, cold chain and food production operations.
The role
The senior pair of hands in the finance team. You own the month-end close, the reconciliations that matter, and the inventory and VAT numbers that everything downstream depends on — and you check the junior team's work before it reaches the Finance Manager.
What you'll do
- Own the month-end close — accruals, prepayments, provisions, depreciation and the closing checklist, delivered to deadline.
- Review and approve the work of junior accountants: journal postings, supplier reconciliations and payment runs.
- Own inventory and costing accuracy — landed cost allocation, stock valuation, price differences, inter-warehouse movements and provisions for expiry and slow-moving stock.
- Prepare and file UAE VAT returns, including reverse charge, imports, exports and zero-rated transactions, and maintain the supporting reconciliation.
- Support UAE Corporate Tax computation and disclosures.
- Prepare the audit file and schedules and act as the first point of contact for external auditors.
- Reconcile intercompany balances across the group entities and resolve differences.
- Produce management reports and margin analysis by brand, channel and customer.
- Strengthen controls and process discipline in Odoo, and document how the close is run.
What you need
- 5+ years' accounting experience with at least 2 at senior level, preferably in FMCG, food trading or distribution in the UAE.
- Proven ownership of a month-end close, not just participation in one.
- Strong UAE VAT knowledge and current awareness of UAE Corporate Tax.
- Real inventory and landed cost accounting experience — essential in this business.
- Advanced Excel and hands-on ERP; Odoo preferred.
- CA / ACCA / CMA qualified or part-qualified, plus a Bachelor's in Accounting or Commerce.
